Although he was difficult to catch, here's a little fly catcher spider that was hopping around in the kitchen. Not much flys in the house so I let him go outside near a window screen.

Flu Week and This Weekend's Makaha TT
Monday wasn't good, Tuesday wasn't good, Wednesday wasn't good, Thursday wasn't good, today was sort of better - I think.
Unfortunately, I don't think I will be able to race in this weekend's first race of the year, the Makaha Time Trial. Too bad since it's being put on by one of my best friends and should be flat and fast - the kind I like.

Burning the Midnite Oil
For the last couple of weeks, and especially for this week, I've been burning the midnite oil to get my new bike frame designed. IOW (in other words), I haven't gone to sleep before 1:30am this whole week - I'm totally trashed!!!
Well, to see the results of all of this foolishness, click here: Final Design - New Custom Frame

Great new climb!
This weekends training ended up being a bust!
But...I did find a great new climb: Bad legs on a great climb.
The view from Pacific Heights.

Crowds on Lagoon Drive @ Night
Just got back from Lagoon Drive a couple of hours ago and the cycling season must really be in full swing cause there were several groups riding this afternoon.
I saw Cambio riders (David, Jon, and Mike) and a whole bunch of Boca with their big training group. I also saw my friend Mark who must have been into his second hour on his way home from Ko Olina! D was going to ride but...
The weather was COLD and windy and the riding pretty dang HARD. Some of my power data is here: Intervals.
Btw, my light worked great AGAIN tonight! That thing is awesome.

Cold Gecko
I love geckos...have you even noticed that whenever a gecko runs onto your foot (or arm), how cold they are - well they're cold blooded of course! (Btw...don't mind the luau feet, they are nice and clean!)
Here's another little guy I saved the other nite. He was running around on our not-too-oftenly-used dining room table. After jumping on my foot, I let him go near an outside sink. Hopefully he has a great life...

Super Bowl Weekend, Biking
SUPER BOWL:
It's really sad when officiating affects the outcome of a game, but when it's the Super Bowl, it's really sad. Now don't call me a poor looser, cause I didn't bet, but Seattle go ripped-off.
The pass interference in the end zone was one bad call (Seattle should have had 7 points). The supposed touchdown by Roethlisberger was questionable in my view (maybe 3 points instead of 7 for Pittsburgh). And the blocking below the waste by Hasselbeck was a bad call since he was trying to make a tackle (gave Pitt 1st and 10 at mid field instead of at their 30). I usually cheer for the underdog, so, I lost - even with points. For other opinions on the bad officiating, see here: Not so Super Officiating Crew.
BICYLING:
Oh yeah...and I also went riding this weekend. The power is getting better and if your interested, see here: Long Rides 2/4 and 2/5.

Thou Shalt Not Kill...
Unlike when I was a little younger, for some reason, nowadays, I just can't bring myself to kill many of this earth's other living creatures. In fact, I have gone really out of my way, many times, to "save" little bugs and lizards and worms and mice and geckos and birds and etc.
Like yesterday afternoon, for instance, I found this baby Wolf Spider running around inside of my parent's house. Instead of killing it, me and my mom caught the spider and took it outside to freedom!
The little guy must have been super scared though, since while trying to catch him, he rolled over into a ball and played dead several times. When I let him go in our backyard, he looked really shocked to be set free. I think he was just relieved knowing that not all humans are the type that would just kill him for no good reason...
